SYNOPSIS
Journey into another fascinating world you would never otherwise have access to, via the next documentary film & live Q&A from one of London Australian Film's firm favourite directors, Andrew Leavold.
Follow the gonzo adventures of Australia's exploitation king, Andrew Leavold (The Search for Weng Weng, Pub: The Movie), as he journeys all the way to (wild) west Africa and Kumawood, the DIY digital filmmaking scene of Ghana's second largest city, Kumasi.
Shortly after visiting us earlier this year to screen the Fred Negro documentary, PUB: THE MOVIE alongside Dick Dale's RIBSPREADER as part of THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN PUNK ROCK MOVIE MASSACRE - Leavold visited Ghana in preparation for his next feature, THE TALLER THEY COME. While there, he also found himself starring as a white slave trader in the latest epic from fellow gonzo filmmaker, Samuel K. Nkansah (aka Ninja). That film - WHITE DEVIL: FREEDOM IS COMING - is certainly not for the faint hearted, but it can be watched, in full, via YouTube.
A heartfelt tribute to a shared love of exploitation cinema, FILM SAFARI GHANA: THE CHRONICLES OF NINJA is also the starting point for a wonderful collaboration, as Leavold launches a Kickstarter campaign to get his Ghanaian-Australian feature film off the ground.
