SERIOUSLY RED
The London Australian Film Society kicked off its 50th anniversary year with an exclusive Australia Day* preview of Seriously Red, the dramatic feature debut of Gracie Otto (The Last Impresario, Under the Volcano, Netflix’s Heartbreak High reboot).
This riotously camp throwback to 90s Oz classics – think: Priscilla, Muriel’s Wedding and Strictly Ballroom – is also a glorious tribute to all things Dolly Parton, who gave the film her seal of approval via Twitter last year: “I just loved Seriously Red! The film is a wonderful tribute to being the best version of yourself. Y’all go see it now!”
Krew Boylan (also the film’s writer) stars as Red, who embraces her passion for all things Dolly after losing her job in real estate. A quest to become the world’s best Dolly Parton impersonator leads to encounters with a range of other tribute acts, from Elvis (a brilliant Rose Byrne) to Kenny Rogers (Daniel Webber), and a discovery that sometimes the best way to find yourself is to pretend to be someone else.
This will be your only chance to catch Seriously Red on the big screen and we have lots of extra treats planned, plus our infamous raffle and pop-up Aussie snack shop.
With thanks to Signature Entertainment and Dollhouse Pictures.
