The OZ Film Festival is proud to have presented the closing night gala’s directorial debut film, the London Premiere of The Butterfly Tree.
Director, Priscilla Cameron, jetted over from Australia to introduce her film starring Melissa George, Ewen Leslie & Ed Oxenbould , she held a Q&A after the feature.
The Butterfly Tree is a delightful coming-of-age story starring one of our favourite rising stars, Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes, Puberty Blues TV series), who falls in love with the luminescent Melissa George when she moves into his town. But little does he know, his father, Ewan Leslie, is also rather taken with the newcomer.
This closing gala was held in honour of Cris Jones, who sadly passed away a short time after presenting his feature debut The Death and Life of Otto Bloom at our 2017 festival at the age of 37.
In tribute to Cris, we screen a feature debut at every festival, and fund the director to fly over to participate in a Q&A. For this screening, director Priscilla Cameron was joined on stage by former director of Edinburgh International Film Festival & Adelaide born, James Mullighan.
The festival closed with a drinks reception, generously funded by the Australian High Commission.
It's the event that keeps on giving & the perfect end to our festival.
