THE WRAP UP
The incredibly charasmatic Oscar-nominated star, Terence Stamp, came to Picturehouse Central to introduce our 25th anniversary screening of THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT.
Ed Gibbs did a stellar job of eking out some wonderful stories of his time on set and the incredible bond the three lead actors still enjoy today. Kick yourself VERY hard if you missed this one. I mean really, we're still recovering... He was an exceptional guest.
Many thanks to the Australian High Commission for generously supporting this event.
THE FEATURE
THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT
Director: Stephan Elliott
Starring: Terence Stamp, Hugo Weaving, Guy Pearce
Duration: 104 min
"Strap on your stilettos, grab your most fabulous gown, and adjust that wig as the London Australian Film Society ring in Pride 2019 with a very special 25th anniversary screening of riotous outback drag spectacular, The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, preceded by an exclusive Q&A with the film's star, Terence Stamp.
When a trio of drag artistes - Tick (Hugo Weaving), Adam (Guy Pearce), and Bernadette ( Stamp) - land a gig in the middle of Australia, they hit the road in an old bus named 'Priscilla'.
Driving across the desert from Sydney to Alice Springs, the trio provoke all manner of reactions from the locals they meet along the way, and discover a few new things about themselves, and each other.
Having previously screened director Stephan Elliott's latest outrageous cinematic bain-marie Swinging Safari (2018), the London Australian Film Society is tickled pink to present this anniversary screening of his breakthrough film at Picturehouse Central, with a very special appearance by acting royalty, Terence Stamp."
